Dr. Samar Al Emadi
Dr. Samar Al-Emadi, Senior Consultant Rheumatology
Samar Al-Emadi is a Senior Consultant Rheumatologist, Fellowship Program Director in
Rheumatology, and the Head of the Rheumatology Division at Hamad Medical Corporation,
Qatar. She is also an Associate Professor at Weill Cornell Medical College in Qatar. APLAR
convenor for women health and Auto Immune Rheumatic Diseases.
Al-Emadi received her medical degree from the King Abdul Aziz University in Jeddah, KSA. She
had her internship and part of her residency at Hamad General Hospital, followed by a residency
in Internal Medicine at the University of Western in London, Ontario, Canada. She then
completed her Rheumatology fellowship at the University of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and her
fellowship training in pregnancy and rheumatic disease for six months with Professor Carl Laskin.
She has been certified in Internal Medicine and Rheumatology from the Royal College of
Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and the American Board of Internal Medicine and
Rheumatology. In 2005, she established a pregnancy and rheumatic disease clinic in Hamad
General Hospital, the first in the Middle East. She has also completed her Master of Executive
Business Administration degree from London Business School, London-UK.
Dr. Samar Al-Emadi is a member of multiple corporate committees locally and a member of
multiple regional committees and advisory boards.
Al-Emadi has received multiple research grants, including the QNRF Grant to study the Genetics
of RA in Arab countries, a multinational study. She has over 55 peer-reviewed publications and is
involved in multiple RCTs as a PI and Co-PI. Al Emadi is a speaker at various local, regional, and
international conferences.
Dr. Al Emadi is the Chair of APLAR Pregnancy and Rheumatic Diseases

Dr. Ahmad Alenizi

Graduating from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in 2001, he completed post-graduate training in internal medicine and rheumatology at McGill University. He is certified in both specialties by the Royal College of Physicians of Canada and the American Board of Internal Medicine. A former president of the Kuwait Association of Rheumatology and Kuwait Medical Association, he currently works as a Consultant Rheumatologist and head of various departments at Al-Jahra Hospital. His areas of interest include seronegative spondylarthritis and vaccine use in rheumatic diseases.

Dr. Khuloud Saleh
Rheumatology consultant and head of rheumatology unit at Farwaniya hospital, graduated in 1998 with a medical degree from Kuwait University. She moved to Canada to take her internal medicine residency in medicine (2004) and Rheumatology fellowship in 2006 at the University of Western Ontario (UWO), Canada. She obtained a fellow ship in SLE and Scleroderma from the same university in 2007.
Dr Khuloud research experience covers SLE, Sjogren’s syndrome, RA and SpA. Between 2008 and 2019, she was involved in multiple publications and clinical research. She is a clinical tutor at the Faculty of Medicine, Kuwait University, she is also a tutor for Kuwaiti board residents.
She is a member in both, Kuwait Association of Rheumatology Royal College of medicine since 2007. She has high interest in Spine MRI and she got the EULAR advance MSK ultrasound certificate. Dr Khuloud is the founder of Kuwait spondyloarthropathies (SpA) registry

Dr. Aqeel Muhanna
Dr. Aqeel A Muhanna, MD, FRCPC, is a Rheumatology Consultant in the Department of Medicine at Mubarak Al Kabeer General Hospital and is the Head of the Rheumatology Unit. He received his Doctor of Medicine (M.D) from Kuwait University, faculty of medicine in 2001. He completed his residency program in the specialty of internal medicine at the University of British Columbia in 2007. Then he completed his Fellowship in Adult Rheumatology at the same university in 2009. After this he joined the University of Toronto where he completed his fellowship programs in Systemic Lupus Erythematosus and Psoriatic arthritis.
Dr. Aqeel works in the Rheumatology Unit at Mubarak Al Kabeer teaching hospital. Dr. Aqeel shows big interest in education. He is the direct supervisor of different residency programs including General Internal Medicine, Dermatology, Physical therapy and Rehabilitation, Hematology, Neurology and Family Medicine. He is also a clinical tutor of the medical students of the Faculty of Medicine.
Dr. Aqeel is involved in clinical research with his colleges in the Faculty of Medicine. His main interest is in SLE, Psoriatic Arthritis, and Rheumatoid arthritis for which he has been involved in many local, regional and international scientific meetings as a speaker or moderator. Furthermore, He is very active in educating the public and physicians from different specialties in Medicine about Rheumatologic diseases and their burden on the society.

Dr. Khalid Alnaqbi
Dr. Khalid Alnaqbi is Consultant and Chief of Rheumatology at Sheikh Tahnoon Medical City and Adjunct Associate Professor at UAE University. He earned his medical degree from the College of Medicine and Health Sciences, UAE University, and completed advanced training in Internal Medicine, Rheumatology, Spondyloarthritis, the Clinician Investigator Program (CIP) at the University of Toronto.
